This is from tonights Telegraph. You have to wonder if anyone ever got the bullet after getting fucked up the arse by Brady. Can't stand the bitch but she played a blinder on this deal.
Taxpayers are to pick up a £35m bill for new seats and stewards at West Ham’s state-owned stadium in east London.
The Exchequer will shell out £14.5m for fresh seating as the club redevelops its West Stand to bring fans close to the pitch. Another £20.5m of public money will go on providing West Ham with stewards over the next four years, according to contracts disclosed by the Government.
Owned by millionaire duo David Gold and David Sullivan and run by Baroness Karren Brady, West Ham pays £2.5m a year to the taxpayer-backed London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) for its stadium, under an agreement dubbed the “deal of the century” when it was struck in 2016. LLDC shoulders the costs of the ground.
Initially built for the Olympics, the stadium racked up losses of £450m in the five years to March 2020, according to accounts filed at Companies House.
Converting it for use by West Ham cost taxpayers £323m, rather than the £190m originally estimated. A spokesman for West Ham United said the tender notice for the stand was at the “very early stage of a process examining costings and ideas for improvements”.
They added: “The club is always looking at ideas to enhance the overall matchday experience for our supporters... bringing them closer to the pitch.”
Lyn Garner, LLDC boss, added: “Due to the size of the stadium and its location within Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, we need enough stewards to keep people safe in the venue and escort them across the public park before and after events.”

Well even if the annual cost of the bowl to the LLDC is 'only' £26 million there is no way that GSB would even contemplate ever taking that on.
The cost for us wouldn't be £26 million a year. £5 million of the costs is LLDC finance costs (we already have our won financing and costs), the costs of moving the moveable seats for athletics wouldn't happen and we would get stadium naming rights and all the matchday income.

Don't be at all surprised if UEFA or one of their lackeys use that as an excuse to bar us from European competitions.
I suspect that the club is at long enough arms-length from the subsidies for them not to legally be relevant, but that won't deter some.

The fact is that WHU FC will continue to be the only football club heavily subsidised by the taxpayer for years to come.

I don't disagree - my vested interest in this is quite a powerful pull though and as we came out of this shining of roses in what was hailed, if I recall correctly, the deal of the century by some in government, I'm not complaining.
That someone in government can even consider this a good deal for the taxpayer should be the focus here, but the media are strangely quiet on that angle.

Someone else can work out what the other costs were on a per taxpayer basis.
Regardless of the cost per taxpayer, I'm sure a lot of tax payers would have preferred the accumulated losses of £390 million, been spent on something else.

Losses = about one penny per day per UK tax payer.
Someone else can work out what the other costs were on a per taxpayer basis.

The notion that GSB would need to keep spending £90m every year (or anywhere near that) is just plain wrong.
Correct.
The losses in each of the last two years, have been £26 million (in round numbers) each year.

The LLDC deciding to look for reasons why the lease could be terminated is tantamount to an admission that a (very senior) Civil Servant and his/her department fucked up on this big time - it doesn't happen.
Coe & co will be protected, whatever the cost to the taxpayer.

That's a really good point. West Ham don't have £90m a year to spend on a stadium.
GSB might need to watch their backs closely though, in case the LLDC decide to look for reasons why the lease could be terminated. Maybe that's why West Ham have funded some of the expenses

Well you've listed a few very vague reasons why the club might consider taking it on, if offered.
But did you not read the original post. The article stated that the LLDC posted stadium losses of £450 MILLION in five years to 2020. That's losses of £90 MILLION a year.
Do you really think Sullivan and co want to take that on.
I think we know who's talking rubbish.

Taking on the stadium in the current climate would seriously fuck up the club's cash flow.
No matter how many grand ideas you may have about the stadiums profitable future use, if it's current day-to-day running costs soak up all income and then some you may as well pack up and fuck off home now.
The ONLY way the spivs will take it on is if they have a guaranteed buyer for the club - and they ain't exactly beating a path to our door at the moment.

But then why would WHU take it off their hands. It's basically costing the club nothing at the moment. So even if they were given the dump for free it would probably cost them somewhere between £10 & £20 mill a year. There's no incentive for the club to change the current arrangement.
What Rubbish!!! Imagine if they gave us the Stadium how that would look a) on the Balance Sheet b) we would be able to take all profits from Match Day c) we could rent it out for Concerts & Events etc and take the fees d) we could put a stop to the Athletic debacle d) we could redefine the Stadium to meet our needs f) any prospective buyer would see us as a much more attractive and lucrative proposition.
Do you need any more reasons !!!

Be far cheaper to build a dedicated railway station right next to the stadium than it will to keep forking out taxpayers money to pay for stewards. Will keep the filthy unwashed away from the shopping centre, too.
That being said, the government/civil service hates both railways and oiky football fans, so a double no-no on that front

Well done whoever haggled for every single possible concession before we agreed to stop it becoming a utter wate of a stadium.

This year’s Anniversary games had to be relocated as other events were cancelled, making the reconfiguration costs too expensive for just one event.
Next year could be problematic as well as we have a winter World Cup to squeeze in.
Whilst having no reconfiguration costs saves millions, It’s still only a matter of time before the LLDC run out of money. It’ll never become close to self sufficient.
That said, I can’t ever see Sadiq Khan willing to give the stadium away - his plan is to bid for another London Olympic Games in 2036/40.
